 SKM Strongly Condemns Mass Arrest  and Remand of Kisan Leaders in Madhya Pradesh

 Police Action is illegal and Anti-constitutional 

 Appeal people of MP to make the 16 February 2024 Grameen Bandh and Industrial / Sectoral Strike Successful

The Samyukta Kisan Morcha strongly objects and condemns the highly authoritarian  step of arrest and remand of kisan leaders by the BJP led Mohan Yadav Government of Madhya Pradesh. The arrest is in the context of the Grameen Bandh and Industrial/ Sectoral Strike on 16th February 2024,  a joint call given by SKM and the Joint Platform of Central Trade Unions, Independent/Sectoral Federations, Associations against the anti-farmer, anti-worker and anti-people policies of the BJP led Narendra Modi Government.

SKM strongly criticises CM Mohan Yadav for acting against the democratic rights of the people to protest enshrined in the Constitution of India. This cowardly action reveals the nervousness and fear prevailing in the state administration on the growing anger and protest among the people.

As per the reports from the SKM state leadership of MP, Advocate Aradhana Bharagav, vice president, Kisan Sangharsh Samithi has been arrested by Multhai Police and remanded in Betul Jail. Ram Narayan Kuraria, vice president, M P Kisan Sabha was arrested in Lakhnadown of Sivani district and remanded.   Anil Yadav, state president, BKU(Tikait), Harpal Singh, district president, Shyopur and 150 other activists were arrested. Advocate Anjana Kuraria, leader of All India Democratic Women's Association also taken into custody by the Jabalpur Police.  Anil Sallam, leader of Adivasi Adhikar Rashtriya Manch,  has been arrested in Shivani district.

Seven activists including Advocate Shiv Singh, SKM  district coordinator of Rewa, Ramjith Singh, district secretary of Kisan Sabha,, Indrajit Singh, Shambhu were remanded in Rewa today. Shathrughnan Yadav, district vice president of   Gwalior, Kisan Sangharsh Samithi has been arrested in Utila Police Station.

SKM demands the state government to immediately release all the remanded kisan leaders and appeals to the people of Madhya Pradesh to rebuff the cowardly actions and come forward and make the 16th February 2024 struggle more extensive, vibrant and massive.
